 At Fat Camp Fashion, we believe in reclaiming the word fat, not as an insult, but as a powerful, neutral, and unapologetic descriptor. For generations, “fat” has been used to shame, exclude, and police bodies. We’re here to take that power back. The name is intentionally bold. “Fat Camp” has historically been tied to punishment, erasure, and the idea that bodies need fixing. We’re flipping that narrative entirely. This is not about changing bodies, it’s about celebrating them. It’s about style, self-expression, and showing up exactly as you are.  We understand that the name may feel uncomfortable for some, and we honor that. Our hope is that it sparks reflection, conversation, and maybe even healing. Fat isn’t a bad word. It’s just a word, and we’re choosing to use it with intention, pride, and care; for people and the planet. 

While this business began with a focus on plus-size clothing, a space that is still deeply underserved, and we deemed ourselves as size-inclusive, we now carry clothing in a wide range of sizes because true inclusivity doesn’t stop at a single body type. Everyone deserves access to clothing that fits, feels good, and allows them to express themselves.

And...plus-size bodies will remain at the heart of this business. Our goal is not to exclude anyone, but to create balance, a space where people who have historically had the least access to fashion are intentionally prioritized and celebrated.

You are welcome here at any size. But our mission will always include uplifting and centering plus-size people, because inclusivity sometimes means giving extra attention to the communities that have been overlooked the longest.

 Another core part of our mission is care for the planet. Globally, tens of millions of tons of clothes and textiles end up in landfills each year, where they often take decades or longer to break down.  For this reason, we exclusively source our rescued collection secondhand. While most of the pieces we offer are in excellent condition, occasionally you may see items with imperfections, flaws or creative mends. We include them intentionally. By offering these pieces at an appropriate price and describing them honestly, we help keep usable clothing out of landfills and in circulation where they belong.

Secondhand fashion is about extending the life of clothing, reducing waste, and shifting away from the idea that clothing is disposable. Choosing a garment with a tiny flaw can be a meaningful act of sustainability, and often, a way to access higher-quality materials that were made to last.
